The Grounder Lo takes the same unmistakable PF Flyers heritage and brings it down to a lower, more relaxed profile. Inspired by the utility and character of classic American workwear, it combines a clean silhouette with the substantial construction and rugged details that make the Grounder instantly recognisable.

Crafted in durable materials including premium leather and canvas, depending on the colourway, the Grounder Lo is built around a sturdy rubber outsole and reinforced toe bumper for a solid, dependable foundation. The leather versions bring a naturally rich finish that develops its own character over time, while the canvas styles keep the look authentic, understated and distinctly PF Flyers.

In 1933, P.F. Flyers introduced patented Posture Foundation technology, bringing new levels of cushioning, support and comfort to footwear.

Created for rugged conditions, The Grounder became standard issue for the U.S. Military — bringing P.F. Flyers durability and traction to the battlefield.

Bob Cousy

The first athlete endorsement.

P.F. Flyers teamed up with basketball legend Bob Cousy to create the All-American — one of the earliest athlete-and-footwear partnerships in history.

1960s

The Grounder Hi and Grounder Lo are unisex styles, sold in UK sizes 5–11. South African sizing follows UK sizing.

How to measure

  • Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, wearing the socks you'll wear with the shoes.
  • Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres.
  • Measure both feet and use the larger measurement.
  • Match the measurement to the foot-length column above. If you fall between two sizes, choose the larger.

Fit recommendation

The Grounder runs true to size. Order the UK size you normally wear in leather sneakers. The Hi has a padded collar and holds the ankle firmly; the Lo has the same last with a lower cut.

Size up or down?

Between sizes, or wearing thick socks: size up. Narrow feet: stay true to size — the lacing takes up the slack.

Width

Standard (regular) width. The leather upper softens and moulds to the foot within the first week of wear.

Men's, women's and unisex sizing

All Grounder styles are unisex and cut on a men's last. Women should use the US Women column above, or take two sizes down from their usual US women's size to find the UK size.

Leather shoe care

Built to be worn. Made to age well.

Your PF Flyers leather shoes are designed to develop character with wear. A little care will help keep the leather looking its best and extend the life of your shoes.

Clean

Gently wipe away dirt and dust with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a small amount of leather-specific cleaner and follow the product instructions.

Condition

Occasionally apply a quality leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and help prevent it from drying out. Always test the product on a small, hidden area first.

Dry naturally

If your shoes get wet, let them dry naturally at room temperature. Keep them away from heaters, hairdryers and direct heat, which can dry out or damage the leather.

Wear them in

Leather naturally develops marks, creases and variations over time. That's part of the character. Your PF Flyers are made to be worn, not kept perfect.

Look after them. Wear them well.

Who owns P.F. Flyers?

P.F. Flyers is owned by Kassia Davis. Since July 2021, the CEO and Executive Chairwoman has led the heritage footwear brand into its next generation, proudly crafting comfortable and innovative sneakers while remaining a cultural icon.

What is P.F. Flyers famous for?

P.F. Flyers is famous for being one of the world's first sneaker brands. Launched in 1937, we became known for adding structure and support to canvas sneakers. Soon after, our comfortable footwear was worn by everyone from professional athletes to US Army soldiers during the mid-century. Learn more about our history here.

In the 1950s, P.F. Flyers made history again by teaming up with Celtics legend Bob Cousy, becoming the first shoe company to partner with an athlete. P.F. Flyers' sneakers were also featured in the 1993 cult classic film The Sandlot, when Benny 'The Jet' Rodriguez wore them to Run Faster and Jump Higher.

Today, we continue building on that legacy by delivering premium high-tops and low-tops that carry heritage, comfort, and performance into every step.

What is the difference between high-tops and low-tops?

High-tops and low-tops offer different benefits depending on your sneaker preferences. People typically prefer high-tops for more coverage, a secure fit, added stability, and classic style. Meanwhile, some prefer low-tops due to their lighter weight, greater freedom of movement, breathability, versatility, and ease to put on and off.

Can I exchange for a different size?

Yes. Size swaps are free — you just cover the cost of shipping your item back to us. Exchanges within 30 days, refunds within 14 days. See Returns & exchanges.

Products can be exchanged for a different size. If your size isn't available and you're still within the 14-day refund window, we will issue a refund or, alternatively, a voucher code. If you would like to exchange for a higher-value item, you will need to pay the price difference before we ship it out.

You may exchange your item within 30 days of purchase. Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase. Items must be undamaged, unworn, and returned with original labels and packaging.
